10 Dead, Including 5 Children, as Severe Floods Ravage Oman; Dozens Rescued.

MUSCAT: Heavy rains and flash floods across the Sultanate of Oman have claimed ten lives, including five children, over the past three days. The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) reported that while ten fatalities occurred, rescue teams successfully saved 29 individuals through multiple emergency operations. Tragedies included the death of a seven-year-old in Barka and the collapse of an old mud-brick building in Rustaq, which killed four children and critically injured three others.

In Barka, three people died after their vehicle was swept away by floodwaters, though seven others were rescued. Similar incidents in Wadi Al Maawil led to two more deaths. In Muscat and Seeb, rescue teams evacuated dozens of residents, including 12 children and eight women from flooded homes. National authorities have activated 161 shelter centers nationwide to accommodate displaced families. While most essential services like electricity and telecommunications have been restored in Muscat and South Batinah, work continues in other affected regions as officials closely monitor the weather.
