Kerala’s Minister for General Education, V. Sivankutty, announced the schedule for the 2026 SSLC, Higher Secondary (Plus One and Plus Two), and Vocational Higher Secondary examinations at a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram.
SSLC (Class 10) Examinations
Main Exam Dates: The SSLC exams will begin on March 5, 2026, and conclude on March 30, 2026.
Timing: Exams will start at 9:30 AM.
Model/IT Exams:
IT Model Exam: January 12 to 22, 2026.
IT Practical Exam: February 2 to 13, 2026.
SSLC Model Exam: February 16 to 20, 2026.
Application Fee Dates:
Fee Payment (without fine): November 12 to 19, 2025.
Fee Payment (with fine): November 21 to 26, 2025.
Evaluation and Results:
Evaluation Period: April 7 to 25, 2026.
Expected Result Date: May 8, 2026.
Centres and Students: Approximately 4,25,000 students will appear for the exam in about 3,000 centers, including 7 centers in the Gulf and 9 in Lakshadweep.
Higher Secondary (Plus One & Plus Two) Examinations
Plus One (First Year) Public Exam: March 5 to 27, 2026 (Starts at 1:30 PM).
Plus Two (Second Year) Public Exam: March 6 to 28, 2026 (Starts at 9:30 AM).
Note: Friday exams start at 9:15 AM and end at 12:00 PM.
Practical Exams (Plus Two): Begin on January 22, 2026.
Model Exams (Plus One & Plus Two): February 16 to 26, 2026.
Fee Payment Deadlines:
Without Fine: November 7, 2025.
With Fine: November 13, 2025.
With Super Fine: November 25, 2025.
Evaluation and Results: Evaluation begins on April 6, 2026. Results are expected by May 22, 2026.
Students: Approximately 9 lakh students will appear for the Plus One and Plus Two exams across 2,000 centers in Kerala, the Gulf, and Lakshadweep.
Vocational Higher Secondary (VHSE)
Students: Approximately 26,822 students in the first year and 26,826 students in the second year will write the exams.
Skill Evaluation: Second-year skill evaluation will be completed in January 2026, and the first-year evaluation will begin at the end of January.
Annual Exams for Classes 1 to 9
Attached Schools (LP/UP/High School):
HS Attached LP: March 12 to 26, 2026.
HS Attached UP/High School: March 6 to 27, 2026.
Exams for standalone LP/UP classes will begin on March 18 with separate question papers. The schedule avoids dates when SSLC/HSE exams are held.
Key Initiatives Announced
LSS/USS Certificates: Starting this year, LSS and USS certificates will be available for download through the Headmaster’s login to avoid delays.
‘Career Prayanam’ Portal: A new Career Guidance Portal has been launched to provide students with clear information on higher education and job opportunities.
The portal includes data on 407 job roles across 24 sectors, 877 premier institutions, and 969 major employers.
It covers job qualifications, courses, admission notices, entrance exams, and scholarships.
Trained career guides (6,687 across the state) are available to counsel students.
‘Subject Minimum’ Implementation: The government implemented a ‘Subject Minimum’ passing criterion in the written exams for Class 8 (2024-25) and extended it to Classes 8 and 9 (2025-26) to ensure students acquire the necessary learning objectives before moving to the next class. Remedial bridge courses are provided for students who do not achieve the minimum score.
