Kerala CM Says State PWD Not Involved in National Highway Work After Flyover Collapse

THRISSUR (KERALA): (Dec 6) Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan made it clear on Saturday that the state’s Public Works Department (PWD) has no role in building national highways. He said that only the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is responsible for this work.

He was answering questions after a flyover, which was still being built on the NH-66 road in Kollam district, collapsed on Friday. Due to the collapse, several vehicles, including a school bus on the service road, got stuck.

The retaining wall of the flyover broke and fell, damaging the service road below. This happened on the Kadampattukonam–Kollam section of the highway in Kottiyam. (PTI)
