THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP MLAs Rajeev Chandrasekhar, V Muraleedharan, and B B Gopakumar will take their oaths in the Legislative Assembly today. B B Gopakumar will be sworn in 33rd, V Muraleedharan 64th, and Rajeev Chandrasekhar 83rd. In a first in Kerala’s political history, the BJP will be contesting for the Speaker’s post. Chathannoor MLA B B Gopakumar is the BJP’s candidate for the post.
BJP State President Rajeev Chandrasekhar told the media that the party will contest for the Speaker’s post and B B Gopakumar will be the candidate. He stated that this milestone is the result of the party’s consistent work and dedication, adding that they will work towards fulfilling the needs of 30 lakh citizens.
The leaders arrived at the Legislative Assembly in a procession along with party workers after paying floral tributes at the Palayam Martyrs’ Column. Former state presidents Kummanam Rajasekharan, P K Krishnadas, and K Surendran, along with other state leaders and NDA leaders B Gopakumar (Twenty20) and Padmakumar (BDJS), led the march.
