Palghar: A massive relief and rescue operation was launched in Maharashtra’s coastal Palghar district on Thursday after heavy rains cut off several villages in Dahanu and Talasari talukas, inundating low-lying areas and leading to widespread power outages.
Emergency response teams have so far rescued 891 people, belonging to 218 families, from the flood-affected areas, while around two lakh people are forced to live without electricity, officials reported.
Collector Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar stated that the district has been receiving torrential rainfall since Wednesday night, with Dahanu and Talasari bearing the brunt of the monsoon fury.
