Glasgow: India created history at the Commonwealth Games by winning double gold in Judo. Asmita Dey and Harsh Singh clinched the historic gold medals, marking India’s first-ever gold in Judo in Commonwealth Games history. With this, India’s total gold tally in the Games has reached five.
Yamini Maurya secured the silver medal in Judo. India has so far bagged a total of 19 medals at Glasgow, including five gold, nine silver, and five bronze medals.
India’s Harsh Singh created history by defeating Australia’s experienced Joshua Katz to win the gold medal. He became the first male judoka from the country to achieve this feat. This is the maiden Commonwealth Games appearance for the 23-year-old athlete.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Indian judokas Harsh Singh and Asmita Dey on winning gold medals at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Narendra Modi also described it as a “historic day” for Indian Judo.
