AYODHYA: Ayodhya has been transformed into a illuminated spectacle with intricate floral arrangements and dazzling light displays ahead of Diwali, with the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple serving as the centerpiece for thousands of arriving devotees and tourists.
The entire temple complex, including the sanctum approach and primary entrance pathways to Ram Lalla, features elaborate floral decorations and decorative illumination. Dedicated visual selfie nodes have also been installed along the decorated access routes for visitors.
The grand festive preparations mark the commencement of the 10th edition of Ayodhya’s landmark Deepotsav on Saturday, with Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attending as chief guests.
Vice-President Radhakrishnan will formally inaugurate Deepotsav 2026 in the presence of revered spiritual leaders and saints, alongside Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
As part of the record-setting illumination drive, millions of traditional earthen lamps (diya) will light up 56 ghats along the banks of the Saryu River, complementing the dynamic lighting across the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. A ceremonial lighting of 101 sacred lamps will also take place within the inner courtyard.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is scheduled to lead several core ritual events, including the ceremonial welcome of Lord Ram, the symbolic coronation ceremony, the Saryu Aarti, and the formal lighting of the lamps.
According to the official schedule, Adityanath will arrive at the Ram Katha Park helipad around 2:40 PM to inspect the Deepotsav tableaux and lead the ceremonial chariot-pulling. Aerial flower petal showers will be conducted over the city via helicopter carrying actors depicting Lord Ram, Goddess Sita, and Lakshman.
Following the symbolic coronation, the Chief Minister will address assembled saints, spiritual dignitaries, and public gatherings at Ram Katha Park before proceeding to Ram Ki Paidi for the Saryu Aarti and lighting ceremony.
Key technological highlights of this year’s edition include high-definition 3D projection mapping depicting the Ramayana narrative, accompanied by coordinated laser displays and multi-drone light shows over the riverfront.
The 2026 Ayodhya Deepotsav marks the 10th anniversary of the annual celebration, held traditionally a day ahead of the national Diwali festival on Sunday.
