BJP Questions Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Silence’ Over Farmers’ Agitation in Karnataka

BENGALURU: The Opposition BJP in Karnataka on Wednesday questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s silence over the ongoing sugarcane farmers’ agitation in the state. The party demanded that the government immediately fix the price of their produce at Rs 3,500 a tonne.

Senior BJP leader and Leader of Opposition R Ashoka directly addressed Rahul Gandhi, asking, “Where is Kisan Nyay (farmer justice) for the farmers of Karnataka?” He further accused the ruling Congress government in the state of being “anti-farmer”.

The farmers’ protest has gained significant traction, spreading across many districts of north Karnataka, including Belagavi, Bagalkote, and Haveri, and has received support from various farmers’ organisations, the opposition BJP, students, and others. With input from PTI
