BJP Worker Stabbed During Victory Procession in Irinjalakuda

A BJP worker, Vishnu (30) of Ayyanparambil house, was stabbed during a conflict that broke out amid a victory procession organised by the BJP following the Keralam panchayat elections. BJP workers have alleged that the assailants were DYFI (Democratic Youth Federation of India) activists.

Vishnu, who sustained serious injuries, is currently undergoing treatment at Thrissur Medical College Hospital. The attack took place near the Panchayat Office premises on Sunday evening around 5 PM.

A skirmish initially occurred between the BJP workers, who were marching in a procession, and a few DYFI activists who were standing in a nearby ground. The issue was later resolved with the intervention of the police and political leaders. However, later, when the procession reached near the Pullathara Health Centre, a group of youths arriving on motorcycles allegedly entered the crowd of marching BJP workers and launched an attack. It was during this incident that Vishnu was stabbed.
