Delhi Red Fort Blast: Who are the Six Doctors ‘Connected’ to the Horrific Explosion? | Details.

NEW DELHI: Delhi on Monday evening was rocked by a blast near Red Fort metro station that killed at least 12 people and injured many. The explosion took place reportedly at an i20 car, and the blaze spread to three to four cars in the vicinity. Following the incident, security has been increased in the national capital and other important cities in the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital on Wednesday to meet with the victims injured in the blast.

In this article, we will take a look at the doctors who have been allegedly linked with the Delhi blast and banned terror outfits like Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH). Notably, the central agencies, Jammu & Kashmir Police, Haryana Police, and Uttar Pradesh Police have arrested in joint operations at least seven suspects, including doctors from Al-Falah University, and recovered over 2,900 kilograms of explosives and firearms. The probe into the blast is now being conducted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Details of the Doctors Detained/Arrested
1. Dr Muzammil Ganaie
Background: Hails from Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. Worked as a doctor and taught MBBS students at Al-Falah University.
Allegation: Allegedly one of the main suspects in the terror module.
Recoveries: Officials recovered 358 kg of suspected ammonium nitrate, a Krinkov assault rifle, three magazines, 91 live rounds, a pistol with cartridges, timers, batteries, remote controls, and other bomb-making material from his rented accommodation in Faridabad.
Other Details: Allegedly recced the Red Fort area in January. FSL samples suggest ammonium nitrate was possibly used in the blast.

2. Dr Umar Un Nabi
Background: Hails from Pulwama. Formerly an employee of Al-Falah University.
Allegation: Reportedly the driver of the i20 car that exploded in Delhi and was present in the car during the blast.
Other Details: Frequently changed locations and was under surveillance.

3. Dr Adeel Ahmad Rather
Background: Hails from Kulgam, Kashmir. Also worked at Al-Falah University and knew Dr Ganaie and Dr Un Nabi.
Recoveries: An AK-47 rifle was allegedly recovered from his locker at GMC Srinagar.


4. Dr Shaheen Sayeed
Background: Hails from Lucknow.
Allegation: Allegedly a close associate of Muzammil and maintained contacts in Kashmir, playing a role in logistical coordination.
Recoveries: An assault rifle was allegedly recovered from her car in Faridabad.

5. Dr Ahmed Mohiyuddin Saiyed
Background: Holds an MBBS degree from China. Arrested on November 8. Owned a shawarma business in Rajendranagar.
Allegation: Allegedly used Telegram and social media to radicalise people and had contact with a handler named Abu Khadija linked to Islamic State-Khorasan Province (ISKP).
Recoveries: Police reportedly recovered weapons from him and arrested two of his aides.

6. Dr Sajad Malik
Background: Hails from Pulwama.
Allegation: Allegedly a friend of Umar Un Nabi and arrested/questioned.
Other Details: Reports suggest these doctors used encrypted channels to communicate, coordinate, and move explosives.

Other Individuals Arrested
Irfan Ahmad: A cleric and Imam from Shopian who allegedly radicalised and recruited people, connecting them with militant networks in Kashmir.

Maulvi Hafeez Mohammad Ishtiaq: An Imam at Al-Falah Mosque in Mewat, Haryana. Allegedly provided logistical support, including safe houses. Police allegedly recovered over 2,500 kilograms of explosives from his home. (TV9)
