Higher Education and Social Justice Minister Dr. R Bindu announced that the entire financial assistance for the relief ray scheme has been sanctioned till August 2025. The minister said that Rs. 8,75,76,600 (eight crore seventy-five lakh seventy-six thousand six hundred) has been sanctioned for the eligible beneficiaries on the occasion of Onam. The beneficiaries were given time till August 15, 2025 to submit the life certificate. With this, eligible beneficiaries in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Kasaragod districts will get ten months of financial assistance (from November 2024 to August 2025) and beneficiaries in other districts will get eleven months of financial assistance (from October 2024 to August 2025). With this, the financial assistance till this date has been made available without any arrears, Minister Dr. Bindu said. The minister also informed that urgent steps have been taken to transfer the amount to the bank accounts of the eligible beneficiaries. Saasa Kiranam is a monthly financial assistance scheme provided by the government to those who care for bedridden patients, those facing mental and physical challenges, and those with serious illnesses who require the services of a full-time caregiver.
