Kerala Government Approves Rs 8,863 Crore NABARD Loan for Water Mission

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala government on Tuesday approved a loan from NABARD to help fund the state’s Jal Jeevan Mission projects. This mission aims to provide safe and enough drinking water to homes in rural areas.

According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, the government has given initial approval for a loan of Rs 8,862.95 crore. It is expected that Rs 5,000 crore will be given in the first phase.

During a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, the Kerala Water Authority (KWA) was authorized to receive and use the funds.
