Diwali: Only ‘Green Crackers’ Allowed in the State; Usage Time Restricted to 8 PM to 10 PM

To control environmental pollution, only ‘Green Crackers’ are permitted to be sold and used in Kerala during celebratory occasions. This restriction has been implemented based on an order from the State Home Department, which takes into account the directions of the Kerala State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) and the orders of the Supreme Court and the National Green Tribunal (NGT).

As part of this regulation, the time for using ‘Green Crackers’ on Diwali has been restricted to a two-hour window, between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM.

Furthermore, the order strictly mandates that noise-emitting firecrackers are forbidden from being set off within 100 metres of ‘silent zones,’ which include hospitals, courts, educational institutions, and places of worship.
