President Droupadi Murmu’s Chopper Gets Stuck in New Helipad Concrete During Kerala Visit

A small security issue happened during President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to Sabarimala, Kerala, this morning. The wheels of her helicopter slightly sank into the newly laid concrete surface of the temporary helipad at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium ground in Pramadom, Pathanamthitta.

The incident occurred right after the President safely stepped out of the helicopter around 8:30 am. Police and Fire and Rescue workers had to manually push the aircraft to move it to a safe spot. Officials confirmed that there was no immediate danger to anyone.

The helipad was quickly made overnight and the concrete was poured only a few hours before the President’s arrival, so it had not fully set. The landing spot was changed from Nilakkal to Pramadom late the night before due to bad weather conditions, including heavy rain and strong winds, in the hill area.

The President was welcomed by state officials and later continued her journey to the Sabarimala hill shrine by road for a special visit.
