The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that the Deep Depression over the Southwest and adjoining West-Central Bay of Bengal has intensified into a Cyclonic Storm named ‘Montha’.
The cyclone is expected to move northwestward and is likely to further intensify into a Severe Cyclonic Storm by the morning of October 28.
It is likely to make landfall on the Andhra Pradesh coast between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam, near Kakinada, as a Severe Cyclonic Storm with a maximum sustained wind speed of up to 110 kmph by the evening/night of October 28.
Deep Depression Persists in the Arabian Sea The IMD also reported that a Depression continues to prevail over the East-Central Arabian Sea. This system is likely to move North-Northeastward over the East-Central Arabian Sea during the next 48 hours.
