The scrutiny of the nomination papers for the Oachira Parabrahma Temple Governing Body election has been completed. A total of 81 nominations were rejected by the Returning Officer.
Prominent Figures Whose Nominations Were Rejected: The rejected nominations include those of the former Secretary of the governing body, K. Gopinathan, and former President, G. Sathyan Thottathil.
Total Nominations Submitted: A total of 611 nominations were scrutinised by the Returning Officer, former District Judge S. Soman.
Reason for Rejection of Nominations: Due to internal differences within the previous governing body led by K. Gopinathan, he was ousted through a no-confidence motion. Subsequently, 10 members, including Gopinathan, were expelled from the working committee. These actions have not been stayed or revoked by any court. It is under these circumstances that their nominations were rejected.

The last date for withdrawal of nominations is October 16.
The final list of candidates will be published on October 21.
Polling to elect the governing body members from various ‘Karas’ (local administrative divisions) will be held on November 9.
The five-phase election process will be completed on January 19.
Current Administration: Until the election is complete, the temple affairs will be managed by an Administrative Governing Body headed by former High Court Judge Justice K. Ramakrishnan, appointed by the Supreme Court.
Women’s Representation: For the first time in the history of the general governing body election, 8 women from different ‘Karas’ submitted nominations. Following the scrutiny, 5 women remain in the competition.
