Pakistan and Afghanistan Agree to Immediate Ceasefire in Doha Talks

Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed to an immediate halt to fighting—an immediate ceasefire—during peace talks held in Doha, Qatar.

This is a major diplomatic success. The discussions were mediated by Qatar and Türkiye (Turkey).

The main goal of the talks was to create ways to ensure lasting peace and stability. Both nations have promised to meet again to keep the agreement going and check that it’s being followed.

Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that this vital step will help end tensions along the border and build a foundation for long-term peace in the region.
