Russian Attack on Kyiv Kills 10, Injures 48

Kyiv, Ukraine (AP) – A large-scale Russian drone and missile attack hit Ukraine’s capital early Thursday morning. The rare strike in the city center killed at least 10 people and injured 48, according to local officials.

This was the first major combined attack on Kyiv in several weeks and comes as U.S.-led efforts to bring an end to the three-year war have stalled.

Ukraine’s Interior Minister, Ihor Klymenko, said that preliminary information showed two children were among the dead, and the number of casualties is expected to increase. Rescue teams are on the scene, working to free people trapped in the rubble.

Following the attack, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy posted on X, “Russia chooses ballistics instead of the negotiating table.” He added, “We expect a response from everyone in the world who has called for peace but now more often stays silent rather than taking principled positions.”
