Thiruvananthapuram: The ‘Vikasana Sadas’ (Development Assembly), which presented the developmental achievements of the State Government and the Kollayil Grama Panchayat in Thiruvananthapuram, was inaugurated by C. He stated that sustainable development activities must be implemented to maintain the progress achieved by the general public, adding that the State Government has been working with this goal in mind since 2016.

During this period, the Panchayat has implemented numerous activities to bring about comprehensive change among the common people. Financial assistance has been provided to all beneficiaries through the two phases of the ‘LIFE’ housing scheme.

A micro-plan was prepared for extremely poor families, and necessary assistance was provided. Eligible families are being provided food through destitution alleviation schemes like Agathi (Destitute), Aashraya, and the Extreme Poverty Eradication project. Welfare pensions are also being delivered to them regularly. Through the extreme poverty survey, the Panchayat identified 46 families and achieved the status of an extreme-poverty-free Panchayat by providing assistance tailored to their needs, including house renovation, shelters, and health protection.

All-encompassing schemes were implemented for the upliftment of women. Various projects focusing on female literacy, improved health, women’s safety, self-employment, and agricultural development were executed during the tenure of this administrative committee. Kollayil Grama Panchayat is the first Grama Panchayat in the state to implement the ‘Gramavandi’ (Village Vehicle) scheme. This project has provided transport facilities to residents in areas not served by KSRTC bus services.

The Panchayat has also shown excellent performance in infrastructure development. In addition to the tarring and concreting of many new roads, re-concreting and re-tarring of existing roads have also been carried out. Numerous other works, including the construction of retaining walls, side walls for ponds, and drains, were also completed during this period.
