Family Alleges Medical Negligence After Stillbirth Following C-Section in Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A case of alleged medical negligence has surfaced at the District Hospital in Nedumangad after a 36-year-old woman, Niranjana Krishna, gave birth to a stillborn child on Tuesday. Niranjana was admitted for delivery on Monday and was induced on Tuesday morning. When complications arose, doctors opted for a C-section, but the baby was born dead by 3 pm. The family has blamed the delayed surgery for the tragedy, stating that although they were promised a C-section by noon, the procedure was only initiated at 2:20 pm.

The family has specifically pointed toward gynecologist Dr. Bindu Sundar, alleging negligence in her duties. Taking note of the situation, Civil Supplies Minister and local MLA G.R. Anil contacted Health Minister Veena George and formally requested the doctor’s suspension. Notably, this is not the first complaint against the doctor; just last month, another patient had accused her of improper surgical stitching following a C-section at the same hospital, which reportedly led to a severe infection.
