Gulf Region Students’ Participation Highlighted at Kerala State School Sports Meet

Kerala’s Minister of General Education, V. Sivankutty, noted the significant participation of students from the Gulf region in the State School Sports Meet. The Minister mentioned that the Kerala State School Sports Meet is one of the world’s largest sports events, and the involvement of students from the Gulf helps it gain global attention. He spoke to the students who arrived from the Gulf to participate in the festival after a reception at the KTDC Chaitram Hotel.

Like last year, this year’s State School Sports Meet is being held on the lines of the Olympics. This time, 22,000 children are participating. A key feature of the event is that around 2,500 children with disabilities are also participating alongside other students. The Minister stated that the decision to hold the event in the Olympics format is based on the idea that opportunities create talent, and the government’s aim is to provide the best possible opportunities. The Minister also promised the students that their request to consider the participation of Gulf students in the State School Arts Festival would be considered and communicated later.

The participating group consists of students from five Kerala syllabus schools in the Gulf region. The team includes 34 boys, 5 girls, and 8 teachers, totaling 47 people. The students are competing in Football, Basketball, Badminton, and Athletics across the Junior, Sub-Junior, and Senior categories.
