New Delhi: An Indian Armed Forces contingent of 65 personnel has departed for the Mulino Training Ground in Nizhniy, Russia. They will participate in the multilateral joint military exercise ZAPAD 2025, which is scheduled from September 10 to 16, 2025.
The contingent includes 57 personnel from the Indian Army, 7 from the Indian Air Force, and 1 from the Indian Navy. The Indian Army team is led by a battalion of the KUMAON Regiment.
The exercise aims to improve military cooperation and interoperability between the participating nations. It will provide a platform for the armies to share tactics and techniques for conventional warfare and counter-terrorism operations.
The exercise will focus on joint company-level operations in open areas. It will include joint planning, tactical drills, and special weapons skills. This opportunity will help the forces improve their joint operational abilities, integrate new technologies, and operate in a multinational environment.
Participation in Exercise ZAPAD 2025 will strengthen defense cooperation and friendship between India and Russia, reinforcing their spirit of collaboration and mutual trust.
