Iran Targeting Civilians Out of Desperation, Says US CENTCOM Chief.

The Commander of the US Central Command, Admiral Brad Cooper, has stated that Iran is increasingly targeting civilian sites across the Middle East as a sign of “desperation” due to its deteriorating military capabilities. Speaking in an interview with Iran International during the third week of the conflict, Cooper noted that Iran has deliberately attacked civilian targets more than 300 times in the last fortnight.

He highlighted that the volume of Iranian attacks has significantly dropped, moving from large waves of drones and missiles at the start of the war to just one or two at a time now. While Iranian officials deny any weakening of their forces, Cooper emphasized that US and coalition operations have already damaged or sunk about 140 vessels to keep the Strait of Hormuz secure. He blamed the lack of maritime transit on Iran’s continued missile threats.

The Admiral also mentioned that the military campaign to dismantle Iran’s nuclear and military assets is “ahead or on plan.” He criticized Iranian leaders for hiding in safe bunkers while leaving their soldiers and civilians exposed to the consequences of the war. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump has warned of potential strikes on Iran’s power infrastructure if the strategic waterways are not fully cleared for transit. (Iranintl)
