Iranian Military Helicopter Crashes into Market; 4 Killed Including Pilots.

TEHRAN: A tragic military helicopter crash in central Iran has claimed four lives, including two pilots and two people on the ground. The incident occurred on Tuesday, February 24, when the helicopter crashed into a fruit and vegetable market in the city of Dorcheh, located in Isfahan province.

The aircraft was on a routine training flight when it went down approximately 330 kilometers south of Tehran. State television confirmed that both the pilot and co-pilot died in the crash, while the semi-official Fars News Agency reported that two bystanders at the market were also killed.

This marks the second major aviation accident in Iran in less than a week, following an F-4 fighter jet crash near Hamedan. Experts point to long-standing Western sanctions, which have hindered Iran’s ability to procure spare parts for its aging fleet of military and commercial aircraft, as a primary factor behind the country’s frequent aviation disasters.
