Jumbo Runs Amok at Temple Festival in Alappuzha; Mahout Injured, Vehicles Damaged.

ALAPPUZHA : Panic gripped the Nooranad area on Wednesday night after an elephant brought for a temple festival turned violent, injuring its mahout and causing significant damage to several parked vehicles. Out of the three elephants lined up for the festivities, one suddenly ran amok, sending devotees and locals into a frenzy.

The situation was brought under control on Thursday morning after wildlife officials successfully tranquilised the jumbo. The elephant has since been removed from the temple premises. According to the Nooranad police, the injured mahout is currently undergoing treatment at the Kottayam Medical College. Authorities are monitoring the area to ensure the safety of the public following the incident. (PTI)
