Kerala Assembly Polls: Row Over BJP Candidate’s ‘Hindu MLA’ Remark in Guruvayur.

The Congress-affiliated KSU has moved the Kerala High Court against NDA candidate B. Gopalakrishnan for his allegedly communal remarks during the Guruvayur Assembly constituency campaign.

In a video shared on social media, the BJP leader claimed that Guruvayur has not elected a Hindu MLA in nearly 50 years and accused both the LDF and UDF of deliberately avoiding candidates from the community. Terming the constituency as the “land of Lord Guruvayurappan,” he further alleged that it had been in the hands of “temple thieves” and called for a Hindu representative to “reclaim” the sacred town.

KSU Thrissur district president Gokul Guruvayur filed complaints with the police and election authorities, seeking Gopalakrishnan’s disqualification for attempting to create communal polarization. While the police have registered a case for violation of the Model Code of Conduct, the BJP leadership is yet to issue a formal response to the legal proceedings. (TNIE)
