Kerala HC Issues Notice to Producers of ‘The Kerala Story 2’ and CBFC Over Plea Challenging Film’s Certification.

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has issued notices to the producers of The Kerala Story 2 – Goes Beyond, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), and the Union Government following a petition challenging the film’s certification. A Bench led by Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas considered the writ petition filed by Sreedev Namboodiri, a native of Kannur, and posted the matter for further hearing on February 24.

The petitioner argued that the film portrays narratives involving women from multiple states but incorrectly brands them as “The Kerala Story,” thereby unfairly associating Kerala with terrorism and demographic conspiracies. The plea further states that the film failed to comply with the statutory mandates of the Cinematograph Act of 1952 and has the potential to incite communal disharmony. The petitioner has sought to quash the film’s censor certificate and requested a reconsideration of its title before its scheduled release on February 27, 2026. (TNIE)
