‘Kerala Savari 2.0’ Relaunches Operations; Flag-Off Ceremony Held

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The ‘Kerala Savari 2.0’ app has been relaunched to provide safe travel at affordable rates with enhanced technical efficiency. The flag-off ceremony for the ‘Kerala Savari 2.0’ auto-rickshaws was performed by Minister for Labour V. Sivankutty in front of the Secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram.

Addressing a press conference at the Secretariat PR Chamber, the Minister announced that Kerala Savari, the online auto/taxi platform implemented by the state government, is resuming operations through its 2.0 version. The Minister stated that Kerala Savari is set to evolve into a multi-modal transport system app by December. Following full-scale operations in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi, the project will be expanded to other districts and cities.

Kerala Savari was realised with the cooperation of departments including Police, Transport, IT, and the Planning Board. It was implemented with the technical assistance of ITI Palakkad, a Central Public Sector Undertaking. The current technical team is Moving Tech, which was identified by ITI Palakkad.

Unlike other online platforms, Kerala Savari operates on a subscription model. This government-mandated fixed-rate system ensures higher income for the drivers. The revised fare for the scheme has come into effect as per the government order dated May 6, 2025.

‘Kerala Savari’ was first inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan as a pilot project within the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation limits on August 17, 2022. After addressing the shortcomings of the initial pilot project, the trial run conducted in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi cities starting in April 2025 received an excellent response. Currently, the 23,000+ drivers on-boarded have completed approximately 3,60,000 trips, generating an income of over Rs 9.36 crore for the drivers.

The goal is to transform Kerala Savari beyond a mere auto/taxi app into a multi-mobility app. To achieve this, it will be integrated with ticket booking for the Metro, Water Metro, Tourism, Pilgrimage, Railways, and pre-paid auto counters. The Minister also mentioned that services like ambulances and goods vehicles could be included, subject to the government fixing their rates.
