NEW DELHI: Security has been significantly tightened across key religious and heritage sites in the national capital following intelligence inputs suggesting a possible terror threat from the Pakistan-based outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). An alert was issued on Saturday specifically mentioning potential IED-based explosions near the historic Red Fort and a prominent temple in the Chandni Chowk area.
Intelligence sources indicate that this alleged plot is a retaliatory move by the terror group following the February 6 mosque blast in Islamabad. To prevent any untoward incidents, additional personnel, bomb disposal squads, and quick reaction teams have been stationed at vulnerable points. This heightened alert follows the tragic car explosion near Red Fort in November 2025, which claimed 13 lives.
