A major unrest broke out in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, following the death of local cow protector Chandrashekhar, popularly known as “Farsa Wale Baba,” in the early hours of Thursday. The incident took place around 4 am near Navipur village when a truck reportedly collided with Baba’s motorcycle during dense fog. Initial reports suggested he was chasing suspected cow smugglers, a claim that sparked massive outrage among the saint community and fellow gaurakshaks.
Protesters blocked the Delhi-Agra Highway, and the demonstration turned violent as stones were pelted at police officers and vehicles were damaged, forcing authorities to use tear gas to disperse the crowd. Mathura SSP clarified that the collision appeared to be a road accident caused by poor visibility and that the vehicles involved were carrying wires and ration goods rather than cattle.
One suspect has been detained for questioning while the investigation continues. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences and directed senior officials to ensure a thorough probe and strict action against any culprits involved. (Indiatvnews)
