Meta has announced that its standalone website Messenger.com will no longer be available for messaging starting from April 2026. According to a notice published by the company, the Messenger desktop application has also been discontinued. Once the website is officially shut down, users attempting to access it on a computer will be automatically redirected to the messaging section on Facebook.com.
However, those who use Messenger without a Facebook account can continue their conversations through the Messenger mobile application. Users will also have the option to restore their chat history across platforms by utilizing their Messenger PIN. Reports suggest that this shift is part of Meta’s broader strategy to unify the user experience and streamline updates by phasing out separate desktop interfaces. (TPQ)
