ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has intensified its military offensive, ‘Operation Ghazab lil-Haq’, claiming to have decimated key military installations of the Afghan Taliban in Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar described the strikes as a response to “unprovoked firing” from the Afghan side.
Battlefield Updates:
- Military Gains: Pakistan’s state broadcaster, PTV, claimed the destruction of two brigade headquarters in Kabul and a corps headquarters in Paktia. An ammunition depot in Kandahar was also reportedly leveled.
- Conflicting Reports: While Afghanistan’s Defense Ministry claims to have killed 55 Pakistani soldiers and captured several alive, Pakistan’s PM spokesperson Mosharraf Ali Zaidi dismissed these as false, stating instead that 133 Afghan fighters were killed.
- Civilian Impact: A missile strike on a refugee camp near the Torkham border wounded 13 civilians, including women and children. On the Pakistani side, police reported heavy mortar fire landing in villages, leading to mass evacuations.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the Taliban for “targeting innocent civilians in the darkness of night” and warned of serious consequences for compromising Pakistan’s territorial integrity. (TNIE)
