Reji Prabhakar’s New Film ‘Kanchimala’ Commences; Dhyan Sreenivasan, Aju Varghese, and Siddique Join Cast

Filmmaker Reji Prabhakar, known for his socially relevant film ‘Sukhamayirikkatte’ (which the State Government had exempted from entertainment tax and screened widely), has commenced work on his new feature film, ‘Kanchimala’.

Inauguration: Produced by Rajesh Nair and Shreyanidhi under the banner of Shreyanidhi Creations, the film was launched with a Pooja ceremony held at the Mascot Hotel in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday, October 24th.

Dignitaries: State Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal inaugurated the ceremony by lighting the first lamp. Noted director Thulasidas performed the switch-on, and A.V. Anoop gave the first clap.

Theme: ‘Kanchimala’ narrates a story centered on heart-to-heart relationships. The film aims to reclaim the marvelous beauty, love, and tenderness of vanishing human bonds in an age filled with violence and aggression. Though the theme is serious, it is presented as a clean entertainer through simple narration and engaging moments.

Cast: The film features a strong line-up including Dhyan Sreenivasan, Aju Varghese, Siddique (who won the Film Critics Association Award for Best Actor for ‘Sukhamayirikkatte’), Indrans, Sudheer Karamana, Kudassanad Kanakam, and Shobha Mohan, alongside some newcomers.

Crew: Story – Bhanu Bhaskar, Lyrics – Rafeeq Ahammed, Music – Bijibal and Ramesh Narayanan, Cinematography – Pradeep Nair, Editing – Siyan Sreekanth.

Filming: The principal photography is scheduled to begin in mid-December in and around Kollam.
