South Indian Karate Championship: Dravid Vijayan Wins Gold in Kata Category

Erode: Dravid Vijayan delivered a stellar performance to win the gold medal at the 4th South Indian Open Karate Championship held in Erode, Tamil Nadu. Organized by Erode Gi Toki Kai Karate on January 25, 2026, Dravid secured the top spot in the ‘Kata’ category. The championship was conducted under the leadership of Sensei A. Sakthivel, Joint Secretary of TSKA and Secretary of the Erode District Karate Association.

Dravid is the son of Vijayan, a prominent martial artist who holds a 5th Dan Black Belt in Zen Tusyo Shotokan Karate. Vijayan manages several karate training centers in his native place and surrounding regions. Having trained under his father’s guidance, this victory marks a significant milestone in Dravid’s sporting career. His performance stood out among the numerous participants who traveled from across South India to compete in the tournament. (TIM)
