Special Intensive Revision (SIR) Kicks Off in Kerala; Focus on Elderly on Day 1

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The distribution of enumeration forms, which marks the beginning of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, has commenced across the state on Tuesday.

On the first day of the exercise, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) prioritized the distribution of enumeration forms at the residences of senior citizens and prominent persons. Chief Electoral Officer (CEO)-Kerala Rathan U Kelkar visited the house of veteran actor Madhu in Thiruvananthapuram to personally present the enumeration form to him. Additional CEOs Sharmila C Nair and Krishnadasan P were also present.

As per the data compiled by the CEO’s office until 8 pm on Tuesday, 2.07 lakh people across the state were given enumeration forms.

CEO Kelkar noted that the actual number is expected to be significantly higher once all BLOs successfully upload the data collected from their respective booths.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has convened an all-party meeting at 4:30 pm on Wednesday to discuss the implementation of the SIR in the state. The meeting is scheduled to be held online.
