The Kerala Government has announced the State Media Awards for the year 2024.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Government has announced the State Media Awards for the year 2024, recognizing excellence across print and electronic journalism. In the print media category, Neenu Mohan, Senior Correspondent at Mathrubhumi, won the award for General Reporting for her series on tribal brides. O.V. Suresh of Deshabhimani received the award for Development Reporting, while Arvind Venugopal of Malayala Manorama and V.R. Ragesh of Madhyamam won in the Photography and Cartoon categories, respectively.

In the television category, Fousia Mustafa, Executive News Editor at News Malayalam, bagged the Best News Reporter award for her series on tragic family incidents. Lakshmi Padma of News Malayalam was named the Best News Presenter, and K.R. Gopikrishnan of 24 News won the award for Best TV Interview. Ria Baby of Mathrubhumi News secured the award for Social Empowerment Reporting. Technical excellence awards were conferred upon Binu Thomas of Mathrubhumi News for Best Camera and Achu P. Chandran of Asianet News for Best Editing.

The award comprises a cash prize of Rs 25,000, a statuette, and a citation. Those who received special jury mentions will be awarded Rs 15,000 along with a trophy. T.V. Subhash, Special Secretary and Director of I&PRD, stated that the awards will be presented at a ceremony to be held in Thiruvananthapuram this February. (Kerala news.gov)
