Thiruvananthapuram Metro Rail Project: First Phase Alignment Approved

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has approved the first phase alignment of the Thiruvananthapuram Metro Rail project. The approved Phase-I alignment will connect the three phases of Technopark, the airport, Thampanoor bus station, the railway station, the Secretariat, and the Medical College. The project will be implemented through Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL).

The route will start from Pappanamcode and pass through Killipalam, Palayam, Sreekaryam, Kazhakoottam, Technopark, Kochuveli, and the airport, finally terminating at Enchakkal. The 31-kilometer long route will have 27 stations. Kazhakootam, Technopark, and Karyavattom will be the interchange stations.

As a preparatory measure for the Thiruvananthapuram Metro, KMRL was entrusted with the construction of the Sreekaryam, Ulloor, and Pattom flyovers. Of these, the construction of the Sreekaryam flyover is progressing rapidly. The Metro Rail project will accelerate the future development of the rapidly growing city of Thiruvananthapuram.
