A 37-year-old woman, Muhseena, died at the Thrissur Government Medical College Hospital on Friday, two months after undergoing her seventh delivery at home without any medical supervision. The delivery, which took place on January 6 at her residence in Chavakkad, resulted in the death of the newborn just three days later due to a lack of proper care.
Relatives have raised grave allegations against her husband, Ibrahim, an acupuncturist, claiming he insisted on home births under acupuncture treatment and prohibited any antenatal medical examinations. This is reportedly the fourth child the couple has lost under similar circumstances.
Muhseena was recently rescued by her family and taken to a hospital in a critical state, where doctors found her suffering from severe infections and mental trauma. While a complaint was lodged previously, a police case was only registered following intervention by the court. (TNIE)
