KOLLAM: Protests erupted in Kollam as the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) hit the streets to condemn the attack on Kerala Health Minister Veena George in Kannur. During the protest march, activists were seen destroying flex boards and banners belonging to opposition student outfits across the city.
Allegations have surfaced that the destruction took place in the presence of police personnel. The protesters claimed that the attack on the minister was a pre-planned conspiracy and demanded immediate legal action against the perpetrators. Public properties and campaign materials of opposition groups near the railway station and major junctions were targeted during the agitation.
Police reinforcements were deployed to maintain order as tensions rose in the district. Left-wing student organizations have announced that they will continue their state-wide protests until justice is served in the case involving the minister’s security breach. (TIM)
