Kerala Govt Must Ensure Milk and Eggs for Children in ‘Poshaka Balyam’ Scheme: SHRC

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: (Oct 25) On Saturday, the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) directed the Directorate of Women and Child Development to make sure that anganwadi centers follow the rules of the ‘poshaka balyam’ scheme for giving milk and eggs to children.

Justice Alexander Thomas, the head of the SHRC, issued this order after receiving a complaint. The complaint came from anganwadi workers and helpers in the Thiruvananthapuram urban-III area, who claimed that children in their anganwadis were not getting the correct amount of milk and eggs that the scheme promises.
