Youth Arrested With MDMA In Oachira- Kollam

Ochira: As part of the ongoing anti-narcotics drive ‘Operation Toofan’ by the Kollam City Police, Ochira police arrested a youth with 10.790 grams of MDMA within the Ochira police station limits.

The arrested individual has been identified as Vishnu (22), a resident of Vadakkethara house, Valiyakulangara Attam, Ochira.

Based on confidential information received by Kollam City Police Commissioner Hemalatha M IPS, Ochira police conducted a raid on the night of July 28 and recovered 10.790 grams of MDMA kept in a ziplock pouch inside a steel cupboard in the suspect’s bedroom.

The contraband was smuggled from Bengaluru with the intention of selling it to youth in Ochira and Karunagappally to make illegal financial gains.

Ochira police registered a case under the NDPS Act and are proceeding with further legal action. The arrest was executed by a team led by Ochira Police Inspector Prasad, along with SIs Jayaraj Panicker and Ranjith, ASI Mini, Senior Civil Police Officers Harijith, Vaishakh, and Vineesh, and Civil Police Officers Anees and Afsal. The accused was produced in court and remanded.

Under Operation Toofan, a total of 488 people have been arrested so far across 481 cases registered under the NDPS Act. Police have seized 172.79 grams of MDMA, 1.652 kg of ganja, 8.35 grams of hashish oil, 0.26 grams of methamphetamine, and 41 ganja plants. The District Police Chief stated that strict action will continue against drug networks and urged the public to report any information regarding drug sales, use, or trafficking to the police via the WhatsApp number 9995966666 (Yoddhavu).
