Senior CPM Leader T M Thomas Isaac Removed from Alappuzha Voters’ List for Dual Registration.

ALAPPUZHA: (Oct 25) The name of senior CPM leader T M Thomas Isaac has been taken off the voters’ list in Alappuzha. His name was listed under the address of his former MLA office in the Kidangamparambu ward of the Alappuzha municipality. This action was taken because of a complaint filed by Sreelatha, the president of the Mahila Congress Thathampally Mandalam.

The Election Commission had sent a notice asking Isaac to attend a hearing on Thursday, but he did not go. Following his absence, officials decided to remove his name from the Alappuzha list.

An investigation by the Election Commission confirmed the complaints that Isaac was registered to vote in two different places. He is currently registered as a voter in Kuravankonam, Thiruvananthapuram.

Isaac had initially registered on the Alappuzha voters’ list using his office address when he was the MLA for that area. When the first version of the voters’ list came out, Congress leaders complained that this was a case of double registration and was invalid because he no longer lives there. (With input from TNIE)
