“India Built What No Other Country Can”: France’s Emmanuel Macron Praises India’s Digital Revolution at AI Summit.

NEW DELHI: French President Emmanuel Macron opened his address at the India AI Impact Summit with a warm ‘namaste’ and high praise for India’s unprecedented achievements in the digital landscape. Addressing the summit on Thursday, Macron stated that India has built something unique that no other nation has been able to replicate. He highlighted the transformation of a Mumbai street vendor’s life as a prime example of this change, noting that a decade ago, such a vendor lacked the papers or access to even open a bank account, whereas today, they seamlessly accept digital payments via phone.

Macron described this progress as a civilisational story rather than just a technological one. He lauded the ‘India Stack’ for providing a digital identity to 1.4 billion people and a payment system that processes 20 billion transactions monthly. Asserting that India had proven skeptics wrong by successfully integrating its massive population into the digital economy, Macron emphasized that India and France would continue to collaborate to shape a future where AI combines innovation with humanity and responsibility.
