Central Govt Fears ‘Cockroach Janata Party’; Pinarayi Vijayan Calls for Strong Protest Against Anti-Democratic Moves.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPI(M) Politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan has come out with a strong reaction against the Central Government’s action of blocking the X (formerly Twitter) account of the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’, a new political protest movement on social media. Writing on Facebook, he stated that this move reflects an intolerance toward democratic protests and that the BJP is driven by the fear of this collective evolving into a major political force. He pointed out that this platform gained public attention and acceptance much faster than the BJP’s official propaganda machinery.

Pinarayi Vijayan assessed that the youth, facing unemployment and neglect, were drawn to this sudden protest due to deep-seated resentment against the existing socio-political system. He noted that this protest, which emerged against the labeling of youth as ‘cockroaches’, cannot be dismissed as a mere knee-jerk reaction. Instead, it reflects the intensity of a strong political response against a system plagued by unemployment, inequality, and exploitation.

The fear that this sentiment among the youth might spread across the country is what drives the Central Government to take measures aimed at suppressing democratic voices. One may have disagreements with a political idea or their mode of protest. However, using laws and administrative machinery to eliminate a youth collective that is exercising its constitutionally guaranteed freedom of speech and association is completely against the spirit of democratic India and its constitutional values, he accused.

Pinarayi Vijayan concluded his post by strongly condemning the anti-democratic action of the Central Government and urged all forces in the country that believe in democracy and freedom of speech to unite and protest strongly against this move.
