A third-year MBBS student of Thiruvananthapuram Medical College has been re-arrested for collecting photos of female classmates from Instagram without permission, morphing them, and circulating them online. The arrested student has been identified as Ebel Augustine, a native of Kakkavayal in Wayanad. The college principal informed that Ebel has been suspended from the institution.
The investigation team found that photos of more than 20 female medical students were morphed and circulated on social media along with obscene captions. Ebel, who was previously arrested in connection with the case, had been granted bail by the court. However, following statement recordings from seven female students, police registered additional FIRs and interrogated him under the leadership of the DCP, revealing further details of the exploitation. Cyber experts are examining the accused’s social media accounts, and his friends are currently under police surveillance.
