India Expresses ‘Deep Concern’ Over Venezuela Crisis; MEA Urges Peaceful Resolution.

NEW DELHI: India on Sunday voiced its “deep concern” regarding the unfolding situation in Venezuela, just a day after a US military operation led to the capture of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that New Delhi is closely monitoring the volatile conditions in the South American nation.

“Recent developments in Venezuela are a matter of deep concern. We are closely monitoring the evolving situation,” the MEA said in a formal statement. Emphasizing the need for regional stability, India has called upon all stakeholders to resolve the current issues through peaceful dialogue. Reaffirming its commitment to the well-being of the Venezuelan people, the government also confirmed that the Indian Embassy in Caracas remains in constant touch with the local Indian community to provide any necessary assistance.

The move comes after US special forces detained Maduro on drug trafficking charges—allegations he has consistently denied—triggering a national emergency in Venezuela. (PTI)
