HIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister K. Muraleedharan announced that Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda has given in-principle approval to permit admissions for 100 MBBS seats at K. Karunakaran Memorial Government Medical College, the second medical college in the capital, starting next academic year. The Minister disclosed this following a high-level meeting in New Delhi.
The Union Minister noted that it was criminal negligence that MBBS courses could not be started despite building infrastructure worth crores a decade ago. He added that had it functioned on time, nearly 1,100 students would have received MBBS education here by now.
Minister K. Muraleedharan also told reporters in Thiruvananthapuram that the Union Health Minister has assured the sanctioning of an AIIMS institute for Kerala.
