India Commemorates 150 Years of National Song ‘Vande Mataram’ with Nationwide Celebrations.

NEW DELHI — India is marking the 150th anniversary of its National Song, ‘Vande Mataram,’ through a series of grand events including mass singing, cultural programs, and military band performances across the country. These celebrations are designed to foster a sense of national pride and strengthen the spirit of unity among citizens.

As a highlight of the ongoing festivities, the Indian Air Force (IAF) Band delivered a captivating performance at the Rajiv Chowk amphitheater in New Delhi on Wednesday. The 31-member ensemble showcased their musical prowess during a 45-minute set that blended brass, reed, string, and electronic instruments across eleven distinct tunes. The audience was particularly moved by the renditions of ‘Vande Mataram’ and the song ‘Sindoor,’ the latter composed to honor the valor of the Indian Armed Forces during Operation Sindoor.

Music has remained a vital jewel of Indian culture and a cornerstone of the nation’s military heritage for centuries, often serving as an inspiration for bravery and cohesion. Since its formation in 1944, the Indian Air Force Band has maintained a rich tradition of using a diverse repertoire of Indian and Western music to inspire patriotism and spread the message of national unity through its public performances.
