THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) on Sunday ordered a comprehensive probe into the death of a newborn baby during a C-section procedure at the District Hospital in Nedumangad. SHRC Chairperson Alexander Thomas has directed the District Medical Officer to conduct an inquiry into the incident and submit a detailed report within one month.
The Commission’s intervention follows a formal complaint filed by an activist, who alleged medical negligence and demanded that a criminal case be registered against the doctor responsible for the surgery. Authorities stated that the investigation will determine if there were lapses in administrative measures or medical care during the procedure. (PTI)
