Iran Navy Chief Meets Russian and Saudi Commanders at MILAN 2026 Drill.

VISAKHAPATNAM: On the sidelines of the MILAN 2026 international naval exercise held in India, Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani held high-level meetings with senior naval commanders from Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Myanmar.

During the sessions in the port city of Visakhapatnam, Rear Admiral Irani discussed strengthening bilateral and multilateral maritime ties with Russia’s Admiral Aleksandr Alekseyevich Moiseyev, Saudi Arabia’s Vice Admiral Mohammad bin Abdulrahman Al-Gharibi, and Myanmar’s Admiral Htein Win.

The talks focused on expanding professional interactions, including joint drills, exchange of training delegations, and counter-piracy operations. Rear Admiral Irani emphasized Iran’s support for collective maritime security and noted that multinational exercises like MILAN serve as an effective platform for regional confidence-building and operational coordination.

The leaders also underlined the strategic importance of protecting international maritime trade routes for global economic stability.
